Nothing irritates owners more than a dog that doesn’t come when called — a predictable dilemma, especially when dogs reach adolescence. And the situation quickly goes from bad to worse when the owner has a hissy-fit — the dog becomes even less likely to want to come to an owner who is shouting and screaming with ugly-face.

Basically there are three reasons why a dog wouldn’t eagerly come when called. “Come Here” often signals that good times end, bad times begin, or the dog is not that much interested in visiting his owner (given the glorious distractions when off-leash). Owners must learn how to integrate short training interludes into the dog’s life, especially during off-leash walks and play sessions and so, turn potential distractions-to-training into effective rewards-for-training. Owners must play a major role in their dog’s fun times.
